Fire Department

Located 30 miles North East of the City of Birmingham the Springville Fire Department provides primary Fire and Advanced Life Support services to the City of Springville.  In addition we provide Advanced Life Support medical response to surrounding unincorporated areas including the Davis Lake fire jurisdiction and hazardous materials technical response for the Northern half of St. Clair County including Hwy 411 and Interstate 59.

Springville Fire Department is comprised of a combination of paid and volunteer members with 13 full-time personnel, 8 part time personnel, and 9 volunteers.  The department is headed by Chief Richard Harvey who has served as fire chief for the past 8 years.

The Springville Fire Department operates from two fire stations.  Station #1 is located at 200 Walker Drive and houses Engine Companies 551 and 553, a 1983 International Service / Hazardous Materials Response unit, a 2005 Ford F550 hazardous materials response unit with two 16' cargo trailers, and a Mobile Command Unit.

Station #2 is located at 1616 Mountain View Road and houses Engines 552 and 554, plus our ambulance a 1994 Ford E-350 Type III ALS licensed ambulance.

There are five full time staffing positions daily plus the Chief with minimum daily staffing of three firefighters.  Three personnel are assigned to Station #1 and two personnel assigned to Station #2.  Both stations maintain Engine companies equipped with Advance Life Support equipment, and a paramedic is always on duty. Springville Fire Department maintains a straight Class 3 ISO rating which was received in June 2002.
